Few days ago, I blogged about wearing RED ("Is Wearing Red Considered Too Much for A Muslimah"). Today, I would like to share the idea of wearing red as part of the outfit. See picture as below. At first, I thought the colour combination looks silly, but after seeing the results from the picture, I kinda liked it a lot. The picture was taken last Deepa-Saturday at Taman Tasik Perdana. Me and my childhood friends from Sekolah Rantau Petronas had a little catch up meeting aka gathering after years not seeing each other. I was a bit frustrated by the unexpected "English" weather. After almost 2 hours got stuck under a shelter due to pouring rain, then only we all managed to come out and "play". By that time, it was already 6pm and I defintely had to go home.

Stylish Headgears

I'd say wearing a hat over a scarf/tudung is definitely highly fashionable and stylish. This is how you can be different and stand out in crowd. But, make sure you have the right hat with a right time as you may end up by over doing it. For example, if you choose to wear a snow cap or woolen barrett, winter season might be the only best time to style them out.

As for now, I could never imagine wearing the winter caps in this all-year-round-summer country, Malaysia. Hey, don't feel dissapointed as there are loads more other ranges of hats you could choose to complete your style. One of my favourite is called fascinator or a cocktail hat. It is a headpiece which are commonly made with feathers, flowers and/or beads attached to the a comb, headband or clip. They are more practical and easy to put on. Really? It is easier said than done. I need some guts to walk down on the street wearing those feathers on my head. Those fascinators are commonly found at horse-racing event, which I have no idea the reason behind it. Besides that, they are also popular for weddings.

Beautiful Butterflies

The use of butterfly in fashion is nothing new. Butterflies are widely used on T-shirts, tunics, dresses, scarves and sometimes jeans. Other than that, there is also a design called "butterfly dropout". Once, I thought the word is taken from an anatomical wing from a butterfly which then gives the idea of butterfly-winged sleeves or what ever makes the clothing loose and flow. However, after a thorough searching through the net, I found the history behind a so-called "Butterfly Dropout". The idea was created by Tova Celine, a vintage designer who is currently working as a group in Sublimation Factory/ TSF. She said,

"Butterfly Dropout is an offering. Each garment tells a story, through images collected over a lifetime, from many lands, cultures, and ages, pieced together as a collage of life. The line`s message resonate inside us."

So, it is rather metaphoric from the butterflies metamorphosis which resemblance human stages of life. Whatever it is, I love butterflies a lot. Be it as room decorations or clothing designs or fashion accesories. I just love them all. They are so feminine, pretty, sweet and stunning.

Care to Dress Modestly?

I am currently anxious thinking of what will happen next week. Fyi, I'll be back to work in fort night time, right after I finish my induction course starting this 20th Oct. So far, I have no idea where the KKM going to send me. I am hoping that, the hospital which I am going to work is not so far from my husband's place. Ameen...

Anyway, that is not the issue I would like to address today. As a muslim women, I wonder if we all care to dress modestly. This includes from top to toe, our hair/head, body shape and our feet. Are modest clothings are out of fashion? I totally disagree. What is fashion? Lets together read what has been suggested by Wikipedia.

Fashion refers to the styles and customs prevalent at a given time. In its most common usage however, "fashion" describes the popular clothing style. Many fashions are popular in many cultures at any given time. Important is the idea that the course of design and fashion will change more rapidly than the culture as a whole. Fashion designers create and produce clothing articles.
The terms "fashionable" and "unfashionable" were employed to describe whether someone or something fits in with the current or even not so current, popular mode of expression.

The ones highlighted are the key words to the word Fashion. Who makes fashion popular? It must be the top, most influential fashion designers. Who are those top fashion designers? Most of them are non muslims, even so they are muslims, they must be liberals. So, this is what we should afraid of. They rules clothing industry and we the ones with little faith are so vulnerable to follow what they have served. As said earlier, fashion change more rapidly than the culture. Where as, it shouldn't happen in Islamic culture because Islam is a complete way life, which is practical anytime, anywhere.

I wish I could be the middle person who knows how to blend well the trendy fashion styles and the hijabis needs. For some reason, I don't think I could because I am still learning about fashion. To be able to do so, I think I have to quit my job, take some related professional courses and work as a full time stylist. Since, it is far than I could reach, I would like to summon all Muslim fashion designers out there to work hard to the professional level in order to fight the current westerners fashion designers.

Last weekend, in the morning, I was chilling at home while catching some news in Harian Metro. As usual, reading Harian Metro at times could be daunting. However, my attention is given to an advert article entitled "T Shirt labuh muslimah by Ilham-Muslimah". Having talked about dressing modesly, I think the t-shirt labuh/elongated T-shirt introduced by Ilham-Muslimah could fit nicely in the word modesty. In the very beginning when T-shirt labuh being commersialised, I never liked it much because it looks like wearing a pyjama. But, I just loved the new designs with laced bib necklines. The dress-like-cutting makes the T-shirt even more stunning. I can now imagine wearing it with my favourite slim-fit/skinny jeans. Below are my favourites.

Scarves & Wraps

If I am not mistaken, I haven't post anything specifically about scarves or how to wear them. Actually, few years ago, friends started to reckon me as "stylo" through the way I wrapped my tudung/scarf. Be it rectangle or square, I always tried to wrap it around my head and neck as long as I didnt strangled. I think I have tried most of everything from the very thinly sheered tudung bawal/voile No. 1 to a blanket-like pashmina, which is so thick. After all, my favourite would always be a 45inch square scarf with its materials something like donatello or mortada or pramit. Despite a very reasonable price, they are all light weight. Thus, when you are wearing it, wrap it around and tidy up by pin it, you will be smiling comfortably. It is so easy than you could imagine. The drape results is very satisfying. Other than the 45inch square scarf, I also prefer the long/rectangular donatello's with the same reason as above.

Here, I have few different styles but with almost similar look. I could not show how exactly the wraps are done because of lacking some technical experts. However, I think nowadays, most women know a basic way to wrap a square scarf. No rocket science needed. We just need an anak tudung/inner cap of your choice and a small square scarf. Just centre your square scarf on your cap without having to fold it to a pyramid shape like we regularly do with tudung bawal. Then, pin it under your chin, and you may start pull one side longer to your chest and now turn it around your head neatly. That's it, almost done. All we need now is your creativity to finish it. As per this entry, I chose a shocking pink anak tudung with awning and a mortada-like scarf. Hope you enjoy the results.

Style 1: A basic 360 turn and finalised with a small brooch at the side of face/ear.

Style 2: Instead of using a pin under the chin, I tried to bring it to the back. That means, I pinned it behind in between neck and occiput. Then, I just bring forward all the remaining drapes both sides and cross them as usual.

Style 3: "Mak Limah" style is wearing tudung without having to turn 360 around your head. Just simply pull one side longer, place it on your shoulder and let the remaining tudung fall behind your back.

Do you think a decent Muslim Woman would consider to wear red? Hmm, my answer is : I am not sure. As for me, sometimes, I do fancy Red stuffs like stationaries, electronic gadgets, handbags, accessories, shoes, clothings and many more. I have a piece of plain Red dress which I bought 2 years ago and I only wore it once. So often, I still have some doubts, by means lacking of self-confidence to wear the red dress. I wonder how RedMummy managed to hail Red colours in almost everything she owned. She must have a strong character that makes Red is just perfect for her braveness and profound self-esteem. Thus, came the word success in her life.

Now, back to the earlier question. I still wonder if Red suits a true muslimah. I don't think I am a true muslimah as yet, but I always try to be like one. Again, but I love to dress up with style. Is colour plays a role in clothing to be a perfect muslimah. Maybe, it does. Whites and blacks, sometimes Brown and Gray are commonly found in jubah/abayas. I think jubah/abayas is an ideal clothing for a muslim woman. Those colours portrays a decent and humble personality. They never considered too much or over shown. Unlike Red, which is meant to be attractive.

While searching for some sources regarding this matter, I found an article about "Warna Pakaian Muslimah oleh Ustadz Aris Munandar" posted by M Shubhi Baiquni from Indonesia in Facebook. The article is very reliably helpful. It is hard for me to translate in English, since I am not a "pro" in literature.

Berikut ini beberapa riwayat yang kuat dari salaf tentang hal ini:

Dari Ibrahim an Nakha’i, bersama Alqamah dan al Aswad beliau menjumpai beberapa istri Nabi. beliau melihat para istri Nabi tersebut mengenakan pakaian berwarna merah.
Dari Ibnu Abi Mulaikah, aku melihat Ummi Salamah mengenakan kain yang dicelup dengan ‘ushfur (baca: berwarna merah).

Usually, Red is matched with black or white. Alternatively, red also goes well with blue jeans, gray, dark brown or beige. I wish I know how to tone down from Miss Sexy Red to Miss Easy Looking.

Sneak Peek Of Baju Raya

Open House at Shu's place, Bangi. I was wearing kebaya moden made 3 years ago. I knew wearing kebaya is a huge mistake for big appetite like me. I was a bit uncomfortable after a plate of nasi ayam served at Shu's place. There is no room to expand my stomach. My tummy was tuck in by the kain and pesak kebaya yang dah agak ketat. I insisted to wear that 3-year-old kebaya with the reason "while I still can fit in". I am afraid the chance of wearing that kebaya will be gone soon enough before I thought. Hehehe

Raya with sisters and cousins. I hate seeing me in that Baju kurung China Silk just because of its shoulder pads. They are too bulky as if I was wearing American football sports attire. However, I still like it considering the price is only RM39 and the colour is light pink.

On day-3 raya morning, family and I went visiting Mok's (Arwah nenek) grave and presented her with tahlil. So, there's no need to dress up a lot. I simply chose a baju kurung zaman sekolah with yellow cotton munawarah tudung to enlighten my misery after visiting arwah Mok.

This is raya day 2 at paternal's place, Kg. Surau Salor, Kota Bharu. I was posing with Mek, my grandmother. This is baju kurung moden, which supposedly become last year's baju raya. Unfortunately, it was only ready for collection after raya. Therefore, I kept for this year's raya. Alhamdulillah, I managed to save extra costs. Heee...

1st syawal was celebrated with this brand new ready-made baju kurung moden. The size is Large as the cutting is a bit small for me. Darling husband was a bit devastated as I didnt choose to wear blue to match his baju melayu. Ampun maaf di pinta sayang. Anyways, thanks for duit raya.

Lets copy Jennifer Aniston look at the Los Angeles premier of Love Happens to a stunning hijabis-proved. She was wearing A sparkling silver Valentino minidress with matching gladiator heels. In Style has chosen her as one of their "Look of the day" because Aniston played up well with her legs in the fall-friendly ultra-short beaded design.

As for me, she's definitely look simply sparkling no matter what she wears. Too bad, the showbiz world only "sees" her sexy long legs rather than her outfit. So, why don't we cover up the legs and make the silver dress more flattering with wide leg pant, a sheer blouse (as to mask a bit the body fitting from the dress), and of course a matching hijab/scarf/tudung. There are 2 different purse you can choose. A studded clutch is best for extra glam look. Where as, a shoulder handbag from Chanel is choosen not only for its practicality also the simple design helps to reduce the bling bling effect reflected from the whole outfit.

p/s: drooling to have all those bling bling!!! The closest "silver-wear" I've got is a puffy shoulder dress bought while visiting London 2 years ago. Nak jumpe Queen mestilah kena pakai baju bling bling sket baru setaraf. Hik Hik Hik!! Picture was taken at Madame Tussauds.

Forget about the word “fashion” and think “style” – it may be mentally less intimidating or more “wearable”! says Ripley. Jacqui Ripley is a journalist and an author of The Makeover Book (Piatus 2004).

I just love Ripley's quote about fashion and style. I found her in Womens Fashion section in Suite 101. For me, Suite 101 serves the best fashion tips ever. It is very informative, intelligent quotes and very inspiring. It caters all the average women out there (including me) who sometimes stuck in a style rut. As we all know most fashion magazines give us all the trendy looks which most of the times beyond our reach hands and body. Whether, the fashion is too expensive or the fitting is extra small. Therefore, I really recommend Womens Fashion in Suite 101 to everyone who loves to style and be confident in your very own comfort zone. Even though, the site is focusing more to middle aged women, the style tips are still practical for everyone even mens.

It has been a month since I moved in Kuala Lumpur from Dublin. Even though the weather never promise comfortness but your outfit can. However, comfortness could be in many ways depending on your perceptions. Some like to wear heels for comfort (Really??hehe), some prefer to wear "almost nude" (by means short skirts, bare shoulders and so on), and some just love full coverage such as wearing wide jilbab and large abayas. As for me, I love layering but I only prefer to wear it at night time. Some may never agree on wearing layers of clothings in this very warm country. However, it is never a big deal for me as long as I know my clothing materials are light and breathable. As for the above picture, I chose a plain navy blue shirt size L and layered it up with sleveless black cardigan made of cotton. Other choices, you can choose anything from silk, linen or rayon. Those are best for hot climate just like our country.

Today is The Editor's Birthday

Style and Travel: Barcelona Baby

I landed on Barcelona about 2 months ago for 4days 3nights family vacation. The place was spectacular with Antoni Gaudi's unique building architectural designs. Gaudi's has made one of remarkable pieces in world history. No one in the world could ever challenge this Spanish Catalan gothic-based creations (as yet). The churches, especially La Sagrada Familia was purposedly made spooky dark with an almost hallucinatory power. In fact, La Sagrada Familia is never completed and always under construction ever since it was built in 1884, the same year Gaudi's started his career. Rumours told that the church was meant to be never-finished as to show how brilliant Gaudi was when no one could ever do the same as Gaudi's masterpiece.

Montjuic Castle serves the place where you can be on top of Barcelona. Going uphill, family and I had to choose a cable car or else we could never make it. The view of Barcelona from the castle was fantastically magnificent!!! (exaggerating..). Inspite of the city, I can see the artificial shores from Barcelonata Beach as well as the Port of Barcelona which situated on the north coast of Balearic Sea.

The Zara dress is super light weight, easy to squeeze and very handy for a traveller. Defintely, a space friendly.

I also visited Parc Guell, a UNESCO world heritage garden complex also designed by Antoni Gaudi. I was looking forward the walkway where ANTM used to made it as their runway and it worked. The park was huge as we started from the back exit. Thus, it was quite a distance to reach to the main concourse including the walkway. Oh ya, the walkway is not just an ordinary pathway. It was built just underneath the side of the hill. It was designed like a sloping arch with one side of the wall kept opened, the roof supported by the "tree trunks" and the other wall is closed. The whole idea was incredibly magnificent. Subhanallah.

White top goes with anything. If you're looking for style in travelling, white is the perfect colour to look elegant.

Lets move to fashion style. As usual, before start packing, I have to make sure all the clothings are easily matched to each other. I brought 2 pair of shoes. I chose to wear wedges on plane as to save some spaces for other needs. While, the other shoes was a soft snake print pump which I can slip in anywhere in the baggage.

Palazzo Pants

Skirt Pant! Skirt Pant! Skirt Pant! Sekepaang.....

Extra Wide Leg or else mention it as Palazzo Pants. For me, I'd love to say it as skirt-pant hehe. This flared, ultra wide, loose-fitting women trousers have been set in trend since 1960s-1970s. The pants are usually designed high-waisted and matched with ruffles shirts for classy and elgant look. Otherwise, some like it simple with a tank top and jacket. Surprisingly, don't be mistaken if you think this pants never suits the petites. Yes, it does. Just choose any palazzo with extra long and pull it out with your best stillettos. You will definitely look polished and become the center of attention.

Above is the picture of Lauren Conrad, my favourite fashion icon ever. Her exquisite styles speaks her talent in fashion. Now, speaking of her palazzo pants, I think she look stunning. The white ruffles shirt, a leather jacket, studded belt and pair of peep toes are perfect for her appearance at David Letterman Show. I am so envy with you LC!! Moreover, her iconic Chanel Classic Caviar Jumbo Flap is enough to possess every bagaholics.

What do you think of me wearing the palazzos? Well, I look halved in the first picture. I blamed it to the photographer, my husband. Heee. (Sorry, Hunnie!!). N'ohhh I am just kidding. I do admit my shape look wider and shorter. I knew it and I don't care as I love my skirt pant a lot for its slouchy and flowing effects in every gesture. I avoided wearing heels because my palazzo is only ankle length so it is a bit short. If I put it together with heels, my skirt pant will look hanging or best word "senteng sangat bangat". And that will shows too much skins from above-maleoli to the rest of the feet. Macam tak sesuai untuk muslimah pulak. Heee...The skirt pant that I was wearing has a very extra large wide leg, an almost A-cut. As if 2 legs can fit into one. This pant is well known to Turkish Hijabis.

That Tribal Look!!

Here, I present my very first masterpiece at Polyvore.com. In the very beginning, I was totally blank in choosing what style I would like to throw out. I couldn't think much. Maybe because, it was nearly a day of fasting, my mind just shut down. I wanted to stay chill while bertafakur waiting for berbuka puasa. Then, after a while before I turn off my laptop, the idea came suddenly. I was thinking something for daily wear. As for me, usually I pick a simple blouse or tunic and pull it off with jeans and flip flop. It is perfect for me to go for groceries or some quick daily shopping.

As below, I chose a tunic with somewhat a Nigerian vintage pattern. This kind of tunics are easy to find anywhere around the country. Another option is the Punjabi blouse which is available everywhere including pasar malam. For more details, check out That Tribal Look! at Polyvore.com. Thank you.

Wow..

Look at these FCUK dresses. My heart just melts, my eyes are rolling and my mind can't stop thinking of it. I'd say Jana, from Hijab style made a brilliant pick by chosing Dinky Dress and post it to her blog. I just fell in love at first sight. The Dinky dress she chose perfect for my style. Then, I started click on it to dig for more. Another wow, i found more and more flattering long sleeve dresses. Leave the prices for a moment as I want to hail the style and designs. If only I can copy the designs and bring them to local tailor hoping for cheaper costs. Obviously, even the best tailor in town could never produce the same quality. Those dresses are very exclusive. I dont think I could ever find it at any street, thus comes the marked-up price. High street dresses like these are worth it due to its fine cuts with the best materials.

Now, lets supple the eyes with these FCUK latest dressses.

I imagined this dress is best worn by some a petite lady who'd like to go chic. With pleating detail to hem will add some cuteness in her style.

I always love glamorous sequinns. This body fitting evening dress may not actually suitable for a decent and modest muslimah ladies. However, I think it might suits for skinny ladies. Just choose one size bigger than usual, then you can freely wear it with no hesitation. I'm so into its bead bird embellishment.

Himalaya Dress 50pounds
This gingham printed dress goes well for muslimah rockers. Ala ala Yuna style gitu. The fabric is 100% cotton.

Dinky Dress 75pounds
This one is my favourite. It is simple and practical for outing. The rounded neck gives the chance to style your tudung anything you like. Rounded neck brings more room for your neck to breath. Plus, it fit your chest and shoulders nicely.

Bex Dress 130pounds
This could be an evening dress or stylish office wear. I think the sleeves are see through, so choose black long sleeve inner wear or buy piece of black satin and sew it. Yet, another simple and perfect for slimmer looks.

Salam Ramadhan

Assalamualaikum wbt, In the name of Allah, Most Gracious Most Merciful.

An Evening treat from husband at Haagen Dazs, Dublin.

Hooray it's Ramadhan again. Alhamdulillah we are all still given a chance to celebrate yet another ramadhan. I consider this year's ramadhan should be my best ramdhan ever. It is now really up to me how I spend my ramdhan for better or for nothing except "lapar dan dahaga". Why I said that? It happened because I am currently unemployed, thus I have like 24x7 hours so called "free time" to make my ramadhan more meaningful than usual. What I meant by meaningful is my ramadhan has to be fulfilled with reciting qurans, extra sunat prayers, terawih 20 rakaats, and most importantly reaching to the gate of lailatul qadr. As other people, I am sure everyone of us must at least have liitle intention to khatam quran till the end of ramadhan. However most people never succeeded including me. There are always excuses like tired from work, no time due works, travelling balik kampung, and so on. Having said that, some people still feels no guilty. Now, I feel like "sudahlah tulis pepanjang tapi sendiri masih malas, buat ape". So, from the moment i signed off this entry, I will leave my laptop, perform ablutions and pray then baca quran. InsyaAllah. Hopefully, you all will do so and keep continue doing it. Lets together istiqamah to attain a close position to Allah's heart. Amin.

Style and Travel: Leaving On A Jet Plane

When it comes to travel, especially a long haul flight, I always feel restless thinking of my clothing especially tudung. You know how your tudung going to be after you fell asleep in a very limited space. It could turn almost a nightmare, enough make you feel so uncomfortable and rimas. Then, you have to make an excuse to the person seating next to you to move out to lavatory. Then, when you are in the lavatory, again the tiny space definitely restricts your movement. After all, you started rimas with everything. Now, I hate flying regardless how far the journey is. Well, that maybe happens to people like me who only afford to pay for economy class. Maybe, it will be a different perhaps better story if you are purchasing business or first class. Phew. It is rather too difficult to juggle the complications of travelling while trying to stay fashionable.

This is my best guide to look polished and stay comfy. I think tudung ekin is very convenient for a journey like this. It is easy to put in and pull off. Where as for tops, I'd prefer something lightweight so with the outer wear like jackets, cardigans or sweaters. I always need those kind of outer wears since I could never stand even little cold. While for pants, I will choose my most favourite jeans which I feel most comfortable to pull up and down. I would choose the same for shoes, it has to be something flat and straight forward. No heels or strappy.

I love the wedges a lot. It is now my most favourite shoes of all. For me, it is very stylish and flare. Not to mention, how comfortable it is. The navy blue and wood colours are perfect match and goes well with any jeans. Since, I loike it so much, I still insisted to wear it on my journey to Kuala Lumpur. It was a bit less practical because there was one time I have to run with it. Therefore, just before I board the plane, I slipped it off and switched to ballet pumps which I packed in the hand luggage earlier in case of emergency.

Style and Travel: Viscose vs Botanical Garden

Today's chosen picture was taken last month at Botanical Garden, Dublin. I brought my FIL and husband just for evening walk while soothing our eyes with the fascinating views. Only Allah knows how I really appreciate His creations. HE designed the plants and trees through human being by giving us the brains hence comes the ideas. Subhanallah.

For the dressing, I chose a viscose dress from Oasis and matched with my all-time favourite Guess Skinny Jeans. I'd love viscose materials because it makes me feel like wearing t-shirt at home. Viscose clothing even available in baju kurung which became famous in Malaysia few years ago until now. Kain viscose amatlah sesuai dengan cuaca Malaysia. It is very practical to wear as the materials allows breathing just similar to cotton weaves. More, it is lightweight and cheap. However, a very cheap viscose is easy to wrinkle. I also read a statement said viscose fabric is not environmental friendly due to its polluted by-products while processing in factories. Now, I feel bad for walking in the beautiful garden while wearing a dress-which-caused-pollution. Sigh. Hehehe. Wallalhualam...

Of Malay Weddings

Salam all,

I was very excited once I knew I'm coming home for good. Even more excited, when I was invited to friends' weddings. However, husband and I only managed to attend 3 wedding receptions. Those 3 receptions were Eliza's-Ziham's and Ruzain's-Ainul's, both bride and groom and sides. Eliza's reception was held at Renaissance Hotel, Kota Bharu. I was a bit overwhelmed since the event was held at my birthplace and my aunt and uncle were invited too. The venue was more than perfect. It was beautifully decorated in innocent white just like what I've been dreaming of. Sigh. My pelamin turned peach-white when I asked for true white. Whatever it was, I am still happy to be married. Alhamdulillah.

Ok, let's move to what-to-wear as a guest. Since I was small, I remembered when it comes to wedding my mother always busy looking for new baju kurung as if like her own wedding. Well, what's the difference with me, her daughter ;). I tell you, the difference is I like to "recycle" my existing baju kurung/kebaya. I am not kind of person who likes to buy and spend. This time, I simply took my most glamourous baju which is my baju nikah and wore it at Ruzain's reception. Actually, it was my 3rd time wearing it. Unfortunately, my body size is now bigger than the baju. Come on, it has been 2 happy years, of course I've gained some weight and extra fats. So, I sent my favourite baju nikah for some alterations. However, I was a bit stupid, didn't realised the kain has to be altered too. Then, it was too late already. Sigh. After that, I made some efforts and dragged my mom to search for ready made kain sarung to match my baju nikah. Just the day before the event at night, I found one. Thank God for granting my needs hehehe. Ops. thanks to mom too, you're superb!! I was so delighted that until now I still can wear my baju nikah. Now, I don't feel guilty anymore for spending RM500+ for the lace and satin 2 years ago, it was worthy. I didn't regret too for choosing light green because I wanted it to be practical for long-lasting wear. (But, kesian pulak my husband 'cos he hates his green baju melayu).

Style Tips: Baju kurung/kebaya plain or bercorak geometri or tidak terlalu berbunga amatlah sesuai untuk dipakai di majlis-majlis kahwin yang beretika dan formal. Where as, baju with lace and sequinns are perfect for night events.

Assalamualaikum wbt,

It's a bit delayed since my last entry. I just moved, back to my own mother-land Malaysia. I'm still getting used to this hot climate which is not so tropical anymore. I'd barely feel the humidity. It was rather dry and windless. Now, I'm start thinking whether all my current outfits would be suitable or not. Obviously, the lighter you wear, the better you can walk at ease. So, is that mean no more layering as I always love? Hmm, I think we can just reserve it for night time or just whenever you feel like going into cinema or shopping in a well air-conditioned mall. I haven't got any pictures of any styles as yet due to some technical difficulties. Furthermore, I'd like to wait for more observations and researches from local styles. Let just be patient because I can't wait too.

From The Closet: Pinky Hem Top

Tulip Hem Vest fron Topshop.

Yet, another hottest summer tunic or jersey top. Usually, what we see is a clear cut and body-fitting top. Whereas this one comes in hem-like-dress. Hence, it's called tunic length oversized vest. If you're looking for loose jersey top, this is just perfect. Just be aware that hem style is meant to enhance the shape of your hip and "back". Thus, it might not suitable for someone with existing large "back" side. Perhaps, like mine.

Once, I felt strange walking in this shocking pink top. So, maybe next time, I'll choose my long black cardigan to wear on top of it. Hopefully, it helps tone it down a bit. I think the last time I wore something pink was about 3 years ago. I don't really fancy pink but as a genuine lady, sometimes, I'd love to give it a go.

Khaleeji Style VS Siti Nurhaliza Style

Assalamualaikum wbt,

Above of all clothings, tudung/hijab plays the most important part in becoming a true muslimah. One person normally transforms for better by starting wearing hijab. They usually choose something that is very easy, light and most comfortable as trying to avoid frustration. Regardless, if they're fully covered or not.

Now, Siti Nurhaliza has become on of those. Alhamdulillah, she had the intention to start wearing tudung. However, after a year seeing her tudung style, I am more irritated than ever. Maybe because she's very influnetial top celebrity in Malaysia. Now, I see her as bad tudung-figure. Furthermore, her recent style wearing only "serkup" at the very back of her head is hideous. I'd prefer if she choose turban than little "serkup" which sometimes looks like Jewish cap. Nevertheless, her most famous style which almost Khaleeji Style is quite stunning. This reminds me of the old Malay women who used "kain sarung" as to cover their head. Yet, still never agree with the revealing of hair and neck.

As per true Khaleeji Hijab Style (which means tudung style of the Gulf), it is designed using a long rectangular scarf or pashmina/shayla on top of the amirah cap. This style definitely covers the neck and head (but not the chest, though).

The Original Khaleeja Hijab Style

I like Khaleeji style and have tried it but didn't really work that well. It's easy, but difficult to maintain (high maintenace style!!!).

Harem Trousers

Ever familiar with HAREM trouser? Don't be mistaken by the literature meaning of Harem which is the part of a Muslim palace or house reserved for the residence of women back in Ottoman Empire. I'm talking here about HAREM TROUSERS OR PANTS which is completely non-related to above definition. Or, in my own other name: "Seluar Aladdin".

This not-so-new Harem Pant started with Yves Saint Lauren and Louis Vuitton Autumn/Winter 2008 Runway show. Unfortunately, the style just never get it there for too long. There were just so many hideous critics than appraisal. Maybe, Westerners never like the idea of baggy and sagging. Of course, they prefer open and figure fitting. Now, the propaganda is clear: womens sexual exploitation. After all, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.

For me, I love HAREM pant. It suits my needs. I first saw this harem pant worn by one ska reggae lady while walking on Henry Street, Dublin. The style is loose, baggy from lower hip and narrowed down at the ankle. It looks sooo comfortable. Then, I went to Istanbul, just the right time and place for me to find one or two harem pants. I already had in my mind what kind of tops might suits. It can be either clear cut shirts or blouses. However, it's not as easy as I thought. It can be quite challenging and difficult to pull off. See the result as below. Mmg haram tak lawa!!Hahaha my husband and parents couldn't stop making fun of me. I felt like I was wearing my pyjamas.

Now, this is Ciara (Listen to her duet with Enrique Iglesias, Taking Back My Love. Just love it). She looks decent and very modest. Don't you like it? Well, I do. Strappy stilettos upgraded the Harem trousers. This style gives me some inspiration for the next time I wear my harem.

You Are What You Wear

Assalamualaikum wbt.

I'd like to begin with Hijab/tudung/scarf. So, when you see any lady (regardless their colour, race and nationality) covering full of her hair/head and neck, what would be the first impression you have in mind? Well, I would say "she's a muslim" and if that happens in Dublin or anywhere in non-islamic city, I'll speak my mind by saying "Assalamualaikum". Simple isnt it?

However, if you encounter a lady wearing almost "cloth-less" here and there. Some people might say she's "sexy". I would say "she's a whore" (harsh-nyerr). But, if i know that person is a muslim, I would say " May Allah swt guide you". Simple isn't it? You are what you wear. You can't stop first impressions. Follow these Golden Rules.

There are three golden rules when it comes to making a great first impression.

Always make a good first impression
You only get a few seconds to make a good first impression
You never get a second chance to make a first impression

That's just happen because our society has become image-based. The greatest influence on a first impression is from what you are wearing plus some other details such as bracelets, necklace, shoes and make up. (tetibe teringt, makcik2 kaya dikenali dgn gelang2 emas di tangan hehehe).

To be honest, i dont care what people think. In this real world, hollywood styles has conquered it all. Thank god, i dont really buy them all. I am very selective. Hey, isn't that what fashionable muslimah ladies should do? You only pick up thing that is right to you. To me it is simple, I'll wear what I want as long as I am well covered.

In fact, I used to get a compliment from one Irish sales assistant at Oasis for my dressing. She liked the way I matched the colour of my tudung and my outfit. I can't remember exactly. what I was wearing. It happened about 2 or 3 years ago. (No riak please, nauzubillah). I am just trying to make a point that even westerners view it as nice.

According to Jo-Barret-Lennard . Women who care about their appearance are seen as

More intellegent
Having a higher self esteem
Being more confident

than those who look slightly less pulled together.

Nevertheless, being decent, simple and neat always work anywhere, anytime. Apatah lagi, berpakaian yang betul2 mengikut syariat islam, lagilah diangkat darjatnya. A reminder to me as well. Good Luck, ladies.

I think most who loves fashion must also loves shopping or vice versa. They just complement each others need. Being a fashion lover doesnt mean you're fashionable. I do agree that some people just dont know how to put it all together. So, I hope this entry will help a bit. Just a reminder, I am not an expert, never qualified but I love to share some tips and ideas. I hope u'll do the same.

Summer sales now on. It is time to grab the best bargains of the year. Loads of clothings are now reduced up to 70%. However, hitting the shops can be more of a ruthless sport so it is important to be prepared for raiding the high street in comfort. This definitely happens every weekend all year round.

Female First suggested a light and floaty dress (see picture above) is perfect for shopping. However, most summer dresses are sleveless. Thus, you can try put on a layer of cardigan (chose materials that suits your area climate) to cover the bare shoulder and chest. Try to wear your tudung/scarf first, lower it down to cover the chest before you wear the cardigan. This helps to maintain your tudung while walking through the hustles of shopping.

However, Floaty dress like the one shown might not suitable for some ppl yg sedikit berisi or perut buncit (just like me). So the way u can cover it up is by putting a waist belt for a slimmer look. At least, it also can do "ikat perut" to overcome the cravings for extra food.

My name is Fadzwani Basri. Friends simply call me Fadzie. I am married to my most beloved person Azli for nearly 2 years. I am truly ordinary person who always into fashion since I was little. However, as I grow up, I realize being a good muslimah is always priority than being a true fashionista. So, whenever I dressed up or even before I buy my clothings, I always keep in mind that I am a muslim and I want to keep my modesty and some decencies. So, I made up my own two rules (which actually from hukum Allah pon), at least my dressings has to be:

1. Longgar
2. Labuh

However, I do admit sometimes those two rules arent met in what i wear. If that happens, I definitely wont be in my best mood, I could never walk at ease. I dont even feel safe especially if i see my butt pops out. Hmm, sometimes I wish I have a flat one. Ok, enough said.
